DISTRICTS OF COPENHAGEN PART III

FREDERIKSSTADEN
This is the Royale quarter and its laid out in a regular grid with Amalienborg being the royal castle at the centre and Marmorkirken looking down on the antique stores and galleries of Bredgade and Store Kongensgade. Rosenborg Slot is a posh kingly country house which is open to the public.

NYBODER
This area has lovely yellow terraced houses laid out by Christian IV in 1650s and until recently was inhabited solely by the Danish Navy.

KASTELLET
This historic defence guard has still an army presence and is open to the public.

LANGELINIE
On the waterfront, north of the marina, a new upscale residential area was recently constructed with shops, restaurants and cafes.

YSTERBRO
The biggest neighbourhood in Copenhagen, this place is bigger than most cities, but is a little on the dull side. ysterbro is also home to the National Stadium, as well as the largest park in the city. Lots of embassies are located here and the price of this area is quite expensive due to demand to live in this nice area. Lovely streets like yster Farimagsgade, Nordre Frihavnsgade and ysterbrogade all have great shops and stores to cater for the locals.

STRANDVEJEN
is a rich area with tennis courts and coffee shops by the marinas. The area goes all the way from ysterbro to ye olde Elsinore. A taxi will bring you on a journey through lovely estates of fine villas that every Danish person dreams of possessing. Dyrehaven has tame deer and other controlled wildlife and with its exclusive restaurants, is a favourite place to spend a day by all the locals at almost any time of the year.
